Mee Hoon Lemak SIGS…

Mee Hoon Lemak SIGS…

Hari ni aku nostalgic sikit…. just connect dengan a good friend yang dah lama lost contact kat FB. Tiba-tiba teringat kat kantin kat sekolah lama aku… SIGS – Sultan Ibrahim Girls School ~ Johor Bahru beb!  Aku rasa one of my fondest (betul ke?) memory of school is tied to that bloody canteen. Pagi2 gaduh dengan apek kantin sebab kedekut sambal nasi lemak… siap buat cerita bodoh cakap nanti kubor apek tu penuh dengan sambal tumis lah…. buruk tul perangai…. Tak de geng nak makan time recess sebab kawan2 semua diet ke apa jadah ntah diaorang buat, tak nak makan…. so makan sengsorang…. Time balik sekolah memandang dari jauh a group of friends yang gengster tengah mengawal the ONLY public phone in school sebab diaorang tengah gatal nak bercakap dengan mat rock mana ntah… (hi ita, hi ina, hi yati…lariikkkk!)

So hari ini aku telah teringat kat mee hoon lemak cair giler yang aku dulu ‘gila babi’ suka makan…. Sedap, wa cakap lu! Ini resepi yang aku try nak re~create lah…. almost…. but not quite there yet… tapi jadi lah sementara waktu,  nak puas kan hati makan benda ni kan….

Resipi :

Kuah santan

  • a handful dried chillies (snip to pieces, discarding the seeds)
  • 2 medium size shallots
  • 2 healthy size garlic
  • a knob of ginger about the size of your thumb
  • a knob of belacan
  • a few pieces of buah keras

Blend everything above.

  • a bowl of fish ball
  • a bowl of de~shelled, de`veined prawns
  • a bowl of tau pok
  • 1 chicken breast poached and shredded
  • coconut milk and chicken stock
  • a small of gallangal & a piece of lemongrass

Method :

  1. Heat about 5 tbsps of oil in your pot and fry the blended rempah until ‘pecah minyak’
  2. Toss in the bruised lemongrass and the gallangal
  3. Once it’s pecah minyak add the chicken stock ~ about a litre
  4. Toss in a piece of asam gelugor
  5. When it’s boiling, toss in the fishball and prawns
  6. Then you can pour your coconut milk and add seasoning to taste
  7. Eat with blanched noodles of your choice and top it off with the shredded chicken ~ nyum!

mee-lemak-sigs-1

* you can add daun kesum, hard-boiled eggs, blanched bok choy, beansprouts  and chopped chillies. The choice is endless but i kept it simple just as the stingy apek did… 😛
